LEARNING FROM NATURE

LEARNING FROM NATURE

The word nature is derived from Latin. The meaning of ‘Nature’ simply is everything in the heavens and everything in the earth. Nature includes many things, such as forests, seas, mounts, beaches, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, insects, mammals, seasons, plants, and others.Within the various uses of the word today, "nature" often refers to geology and wildlife. Nature can refer to the general realm of living plants and animals. Nature is always around us. Wherever we are, nature is always around us and we can not avoid this fact. Nature always provides all human needs, but sometimes human never understand never respect or never give thank to nature.

Let us think, nature gives many benefits and lessons to our life as a human. We can learn the meaning of life from nature. It is so amazing, right? We can learn from nature if we always pay attention and we always respect to nature. Things we can learn from nature is love, peace and harmony, required to cleanse negativity in our mind, everything has a purpose, beauty in simplicity and good stuff always follows bad stuff.

First, nature is love. Without love, everything is a waste. The truth is love can come from anywhere. Whether it be from people, animals or plant even from the small things in this world. Nature can give many love for people who want to be loved. It gives you comfort and peace of mind if you are around them. When you breath, you can feel your soul flow like water in river.

Second, peace and harmony. This part is almost similar to the previous. You can get peace and harmony everytime you come to the beach or forest. When you hear the sound of bird, water, wind, and even sound of your step foot stepping on foliage, it can make you feel peace and harmony. Every tiny part of nature harmoniously co-exists with every other part. There is unity in harmony. Without us know, when we In the stillness of the lakes, atop the lofty mountains and deep within the sea, peace and inner calm go to our soul.

Third, become stronger. Nature make anyone to be strong. So many example from nature can make you strong. For example is Gnarled. The oldest known organism on Earth is the bristlecone pine, which can live over 5,000 years. Gnarled and stunted-looking, grotesquely wind-flagged and seemingly half-alive, they grow near treeline in the super harsh alpine environments of the Rockies and Sierra, with extreme conditions almost year round.

Then, everything has a purpose. Everyone in earth has a purpose and its purpose is survive. Althought it’s different but everything has a purpose. Animals needs food as well as humans. Plant needs water as well as humans too. See? They all need that to survive because nature just selects only they can survive. Those who can not survive will be eliminated from nature.

Fifth, Beauty in simplicity. Got a beauty in simplicity is not difficult. Just respect and be grateful to yourself. So many animals or plants looks beautiful althought maybe people call it ugly but it has attractiveness and benefits for human or nature or others. So, beauty not see from shape your body or your face but your attitude and you do good to others will show your beauty.

Otters

Otters are carnivorous mammals in the subfamily Lutrinae. The 13 extant otter species are all semiaquaticaquatic or marine, with diets based on fish and invertebrates.
Otters have long, slim bodies and relatively short limbs. The 13 species range in adult size from 0.6 to 1.8 m (2.0 to 5.9 ft) in length and 1 to 45 kg (2.2 to 99.2 lb) in weight. Males weigh up to 90 lbs (41 kilograms). The Oriental small-clawed otter is the smallest otter species, which grows up to 2.9 feet (90 centimeters) long and up to 11 lbs. (5 kg)  and the giant otter and sea otter are the largest. They have very soft, insulated underfur, which is protected by an outer layer of long guard hairs. This traps a layer of air which keeps them dry, and warm.

For most otters, fish is the staple of their diet. This is often supplemented by frogs, crayfish and crabs. Some otters are expert at opening shellfish, and others will feed on available small mammals or birds.
Otters are found almost all over the world and in many wet habitats, such freshwater rivers, lakes, oceans, coastlines and marshes. Otters are active hunters, chasing prey in the water or searching the beds of rivers, lakes or the seas. Most species live beside water, but river otters usually enter it only to hunt or travel, otherwise spending much of their time on land to avoid their fur becoming waterlogged. Sea otters are considerably more aquatic and live in the ocean for most of their lives.
Otters are playful animals and appear to engage in various behaviors for sheer enjoyment, such as making waterslides and then sliding on them into the water. They may also find and play with small stones. They like to slide off embankments into the water, wrestle, chase their tails and participate in other fun games. They are also very curious and like to investigate new things.
Otters spend a good part of their day grooming themselves. They clean their fur by biting it and scratching it against rocks, or rubbing it on logs or grass. They actually have two layers of fur: a dense undercoat that traps air and a topcoat of long, waterproof hairs.
A female otter has a gestation period of two months for smaller species and five months for sea otters. She will give birth to one to five offspring, through usually only two babies are born at once. Sea otters are the only otters that give birth in water. Other otters give birth in dens. Otter babies are called pups. They are born weighing only 4.5 ounces (128 grams) for smaller species and 5 lbs. (2.3 kg) for sea otters.Pups have sealed eyes that open at around 1 month old. At 2 months, pups start to swim. At 1 year of age, pups leave their mother. By 2 to 5 years old they will be ready to make their own pups. Otter live to around 12 years old in the wild, and longer in captivity.
For many generations, fishermen in southern Bangladesh have bred smooth-coated otters and used them to chase fish into their nets. Once a widespread practice, passed down from father to son throughout many communities in Asia, this traditional use of domesticated wild animals is still in practice in the district of Narail, Bangladesh.
The European otter (Lutra lutra), also called the Eurasian otter, inhabits Europe, most of Asia and parts of North Africa. In the British Isles, they were common as recently as the 1950s, but became rare in many areas due to the use of chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides, habitatloss and water pollution (they remained relatively common in parts of Scotland and Ireland). Population levels reached a low point in the 1980s, but are now recovering strongly.
The North American river otter (Lontra canadensis) became one of the major animals hunted and trapped for fur in North America after European contact. River otters eat a variety of fish and shellfish, as well as small land mammals and birds. They grow to one meter (3 to 4 ft) in length and weigh from five to 15 kilograms (10 to 30 lb). In some areas, this is a protected species, and some places have otter sanctuaries that help sick and injured otters to recover.
Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are classified as marine mammals and live along the Pacific coast of North America. Sea otters have about 26,000 to 165,000 hairs per square centimeters of skin, a rich fur for which humans hunted them almost to extinction. Sea otters eat shellfish and other invertebrates (especially clams, abalone, and sea urchins). They frequently carry a rock in a pouch under their forearm and use this to smash open shells, making them one of the relatively small number of animals that use tools. They grow to 1.0 to 1.5 m (3.3 to 4.9 ft) in length and weigh 30 kg (66 lb). Unlike most marine mammals (such as seals or whales), sea otters do not have a layer of insulating blubber.

Jeju Island

A week ago, my teacher told my friends and i to disscussed about places. I choose Jeju Island for my theme. Why i choose Jeju Island? Because i like Korean culture and wacthed Korean Dramas. Jeju Island always in Korean Dramas. So, I will tell you about Jeju Island!Jejudo or Jeju Island is the biggest island in South Korea. The island lies in Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province. The island was formed about 2 million years ago by volcano activity. Jeju island has a nickname, the island of no three kinds, and many three kinds. This means it was originally labeled the island of triple abundance: Wind, stones, and women, added to its reputation the fact it doesn't have beggars, thieves, or locked gates. Many places in Jeju Island can make you interest. The interesting places in Jeju Island like Manjaggul Lava Tube, Seongsan Ilchulbong or "Sunrise Peak", a volcanic tuff cone and crater, Mount Hallasan, Jeju Teddy Bear Museum, Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls and Jeju Loveland.
Mount Hallasan.

Hallasan is a shield volcano on Jeju Island of South Korea. Hallasan is the highest mountain in South Korea.

Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls.
Cheonjeyeon Waterfall is a three-tier waterfall located on Jeju Island. Cold water flows out of the ceiling of a cave to make the waterfall. Between the precipice of the waterfall and the lower clay layer, water springs out. In first cascade, the cliff is 22 m (72 ft) high and the water falls into Cheonjeyeon pond which is 21 m (69 ft) deep. From there, the water goes to the second waterfall and falls 30 m (98 ft) and continues to the third waterfall. Eventually, the water reaches the ocean. Cheonjeyeon means Pond of the Emperor of Heaven.

Teddy Bear Museum.
The Teddy Bear Museum lives up to its name, boasting quite an impressive variety of stuffed bears that have been loved for more than a hundred years the world over. Inside the two galleries you can view teddy bears from various countries. You can also enjoy yourself at the museum shop, café, restaurant or the outdoor park offering views of the spectacular Jungmun Sea.

The gallery is grouped into three sections: the History Hall, the Art Hall and the Project Exhibition Hall. In the History Hall, you can witness the 100-year history of teddy bears including famous scenes, popular teddy bears of different eras, and antique teddy bears. The Mona Lisa teddy bear and the teddy bears of “The Last Supper” (Leonardo Da Vinci) will especially catch your eyes. The Art Hall features the latest artwork of world famous designers, and you will also find animation characters beloved by children.

Manjanggul Lava Tube.
Manjanggul Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, and is a designated natural monument. A lava tunnel is formed when the lava that was deep in the ground spouts from the peak and flows to the surface. Manjanggul Cave has a variety of interesting structures inside including 70cm lava stalagmites and the lava tube tunnels.

Only 1km of the 13,422m Manjanggul Cave is open to tourists. The inside of the tunnel sustains a temperature of 11~21, creating a comfortable atmosphere. There are rare animals such as bats living in the tunnel, which makes this tunnel valuable for researchers as well. The stone pillars and stalactites are widely spread and the tunnels shows off the cave’s topographical features. "Stone Turtle" is especially eye-catching because it is shaped like Jeju-do Island.
